Who Lives There

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

A poet I once knew wrote these words:

I dedicate this year to you Lord,
With a promise to improve in Spirit, Mind and Body
This run down property that bears my name This year I will try to keep the house where I reside
As you would have it kept
       Structure firm
       Chambers clean
       Windows shining...
From inside with such a light That passersby will stop to ask
"Who lives here?"
Or
"Who owns this lovely place?"

excerpt from "A Resolution For the Year Ahead" by R.R. Childress

The author here reminds me of these things....

We do not belong to ourselves but to our Creator. We are transient, just passing through. Our job is to make our journey an honorable one by taking care of our mind, body and spirit. As we strive to take care of our physical bodies and nourish our spirits, let us live and love well on our journey.

Jesus teaches us that He came so that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)

Jesus also says, "I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

With Jesus, the abundant life gives us purpose, peace, joy and strength for the spirit, body and soul.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank you for  the gift of life and for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Guide us each day that we might serve you well and show your light to those we meet. Amen.
